Eva Lakirovich is a dynamic cellist who maintains an active performance career and is equally dedicated to teaching the next generation of musicians. She began her cello studies at the age of six with her mother, cellist and professor Julie Ribchinsky, igniting a lifelong passion for music.
She earned her Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Master of Music from Carnegie Mellon University. Her principal teachers include Richard Weiss, Anne Martindale Williams, Dr. Katie Schlaikjer, and Dr. Kangho Leeโeach playing a vital role in shaping her artistic development and musical voice.
Specializing in chamber music and recital performance, Eva appears regularly in concerts throughout the year. A central part of her musical life is her faculty role at the Vancouver Island Music Academy, where she teaches and performs in recital with colleagues. These performances, held during the summer festival and year round, support scholarships for VIMA students and reflect her deep commitment to education and community engagement. Eva has also served on the faculty of the Cremona International Music Academy, where she performed and mentored young musicians from around the world.
Eva has performed extensively with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and was invited to perform with the Orquesta Filarmรณnica de Jalisco in Guadalajara. She has also appeared as guest principal cellist with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and performed with numerous ensembles across the United States, Canada, and Europe, establishing herself as a versatile and sought-after artist.
A passionate educator, Eva is dedicated to helping cellists grow both musically and technically. She is confident in guiding young artists toward high-level playing, nurturing their strengths while fostering discipline, creativity, and expressive depth. She currently teaches at the Vancouver Academy of Music and the VSO School of Music.
Eva is looking forward to performing the Brahms Double Concerto as a soloist next season with the West Coast Symphony Orchestra, alongside her husband violinist David Lakirovich in June, 2025.
She plays on a modern cello made in 2016 by Benjamin Wilke.
